A TYPICAL DAY ON THE RANCH Today there are 4 of us, Ed,Jami,Mike and myself in the Hummer. Jami is the
Official Photographer on this trip. If you have ever had to go through 180
4500 pixel photos and pick out only 10 or 12 to show the story you have not
lived. I use to be the editor of a magazine and have some experience in this
area so here goes the typical day.
First there is the drive by. The scenes are worth a hundred pictures in them self.
Here is one of them. This is Mesa Felipe with an artsy look.
We are driving to the cave that has an ancient hunting blind in it. I want to
show the new guys Ed and Jami the workmanship on this blind.
There at the hunting point of the blind is a large buck
I let them know that the blind was designed in a blind canyon and the
buck would have to pass us on the way out so here comes the first real
photo opportunity.
We found that after the wettest year in New Mexico History
there are many animals about. Some on the ground
Some of them were in the sky
and some in the mind in the rocks in the sky
Life is growing out of the rocks
Some of the life in the rocks like this ammonite is 400 mil. Yrs old
Some of the rocks are very special
Some of the wood is as old as the rocks
Some of the life left rocks behind that they lived in.
All in all the geology is dramatic
The area of ancient life is the Mesa TAS
Most life in these areas were fed by the water falls
We are on our way to the big water fall
Along the way we see the writings of past travelers
No one said this climb would be easy
But the view made it worth it! At last the
photographer gets in a picture.
A funny thing happened the next week on the way to the ranch.
Spotted three bison (yep buffalo) walking the fence line. You have
not lived until you have rounded up 3 buffalo and got them thought
the gate. And to answer the other question, no we have never seen
buffalo on the ranch before. Someday wandering through those
magical valleys I can see the small heard that was started today.
